At the October lecture from the 1+1 series, we will talk about love stories - realistic and fantasy, about writing and publishing books, but also about swimming and records.
The invitation to the library was accepted by the writer, publisher and swimmer Soňa Rebrová, who swam across the English Channel, which she captured in the book Dokazéš to!. At the same time, she became the first Slovak woman to swim 1 km in the icy waters of the Arctic. Our second guest will be the popular Slovak writer Emily D. Beňová, the author of many popular women's novels and romantic fantasy literature.
The event will take place on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at 5 p.m. in the central library at Hviezdoslavová 5 in Košice.

Soňa Rebrová is a former journalist who also won the Journalist Award for her reports. Her first work was the book Ema about a girl with cancer, which was a great success. Soon after that, she published the titles Love me if you can and Pregnancy with a smile (for expectant mothers). Her heart is the novel Condemned for Life, in which she describes a story from the Second World War. She wrote one book under a pseudonym. Last year, she published a motivational book You can do it!, in which she describes her journey to swim the English Channel. He has his own Bestseller publishing house, in which he publishes novels for women. In addition, he runs the non-profit organization Želaj si, which fulfills the dreams of long-term sick and dying children. In her free time, she swims, in which she has collected several records.
Emily D. Beňová is a Slovak writer living in the east of Slovakia. She is married, has two daughters, loves sweets, nature and reading. In his free time, he devotes himself to his family and writing romantic women's novels, as well as fantasy novels. At the age of nineteen, she wrote the first vampire fantasy series Dark Angels, which was reissued in 2017. In addition, she is the author of the books Forever Mine and Touch of Desire and the series Until the Truth Divides Us, Two Steps to Hell, The True Face of Love, 666 Souls, In an Embrace and The Most Precious.
