About event
Come with us to welcome the first day of winter on Saturday, December 21, which will bring us the shortest day and longest night of 2024.
This day coincides with the magical astronomical phenomenon, the winter solstice, which symbolizes the beginning of winter and significant shift of the sun's rays in the sky.
The winter solstice has always been a highly anticipated moment in the past, as it symbolized the promise that light would be born again after a period of darkness. This cycle repeats every year and can serve as an opportunity for us to slow down, reflect and prepare for the new year. This day is also a good time to clear your mind and get rid of negative thoughts.
On this occasion, according to the yogic tradition, we will practice 108 salutations to the Sun in honor of change, the cycle of life, the cycle of natural phenomena, the end and the beginning. We allow ourselves to be guided by our own breath and when repeating yoga asanas we get into a conscious meditation in motion. We will help your body, mind and soul. We will strengthen our strength, endurance, discipline and enjoyment of movement. The meeting will be accompanied by Pavla Hrachovinová and the mantra for this cycle.
And why 108? 108 is a magic number. It is the number of wholeness. It closes cycles and opens new cycles. It connects the Earth with the Moon and the Sun. The number 1 represents the principle of higher truth, 0 represents emptiness and 8 infinity and eternity. So 1,0 and 8 represent one thing, nothing and everything (infinity).
