The National Parade of Philharmonic Bands "1st of December" is an original idea by José Ribeiro e Castro, then founder and general coordinator of the 1st Movement December, launched in 2012.

The costume debuted in 2012 was his creation, having undergone small improvements and adjustments until 2019, also introduced by the event's creator.

- --------------------------------------------

The December 1st Movement launched the idea of this grand Parade and mobilized different bands and municipalities across the country. It is possible to achieve this thanks to the support of Lisbon City Council and the organizational capacity of EGEAC. The initiative, which has always had the endorsement of SHIP - Historical Society of the Independence of Portugal, is now organized by it, occupying a prominent place in the Official Program for the 1st of December Celebrations.

We are grateful for the support provided by the Jerónimo Martins group, as well as the live coverage and broadcast by RTP1

The National Philharmonic Bands Parade "1st of December. " was a success in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. In 2020 and 2021, it was interrupted because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It became a hit again in 2022 and 2023. It will be again in 2024.
