In the very heart of Austria - the apricots of the Wahaau were ripe!
So, it's time to go to Cream - the capital of fragrant fruits and one of the sunny holidays of the year. Only once a year the old streets of the city turn into an apricot mile - and you must see it!
We will go to the Wachauer Marille region (Apricot Wahaau) - to the apricot paradise located in the heart of Lower Austria, on both sides of the beautiful blue Danube River.
Wahaau is famous not only for wine, but also with his juicy, delicious apricots, which the Romans brought here about 2000 during the founding of the Roman province of Norikum, along with grapes.
"Apricot of the Wahaau" occupies a special place among all other varieties of apricots.
Farmers growing apricots, for many generations, select the varieties of fruits, guided primarily by the criterion "Taste".
So in the Danube Valley the famous and unique in the world “Vahau apricots”.
Apricot “Wahaau” has a strong aroma, and with complete maturity it becomes very soft and juicy, therefore it is ideal for the production of high -quality brandy, juice or jam.
Most apricot trees in the region of growing“ Vahaau apricots ”have an age about 50 years and even older. All the fruits are collected and sorted manually, so they have unique quality.
Delicate fruits are not suitable for sale in supermarkets, since they are practically not amenable to storage.
Cream itself is the oldest city of Lower Austria, where the taste of summer is connected to the spirit of the Middle Ages!
