🇨🇿 🇸🇰 The film CHAMPION is an intense personal drama of a young man who, after years of representing his homeland, longs for only one thing – to leave the golden cage of socialist Czechoslovakia and act in the popular revue Holiday on Ice. It is at this vulnerable moment that the regime increases the pressure on him. During the final preparation for the championships, Ondrej fights not only with the regime, but above all with himself. Shortly before the decisive ride, he is paralyzed by fear and Hilda the Wise must find a way to get him back on his feet. The film captures decisive moments and indicates why the world champion does not celebrate in grainy shots from Bratislava, although he has just achieved his life's triumph.
