About event
On Sunday, December 15, we invite you to the 17th concert in memory of Tomáš Munk and the victims of the Holocaust from Ružomberok. The event will start at 18:00 in the Rosomber synagogue and takes place on the day Tomáš Munk was taken away from the novitiate of the Jesuit order (December 15, 1944). First to the Seredi camp, later to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp. He died together with his father František on the death march from this camp at the end of the war. With the concert, we want to honor the memory of all Holocaust victims from our city.
The musical guest will be Karin Sarkisyan and the string quartet The Ladies Ensemble. Karin is a native of Yerevan, Armenia, and her work on the Slovak music scene is a unique combination of piano playing and unique vocal performance. In addition, Karin enjoys arranging folk songs for various instrumental ensembles, as well as choral compositions. Karin is a sought-after artist for other musical groups, and thus she is a guest at the concerts of Balkanansambel, Bashavel, Preßburger Klezmer Band (on whose CD Tsvantsik Yorn appeared), Shum Davar, Pacora trio and Kaschauer klezmer Band. He is also dedicated to stage music (collaboration with the Slovak National Theatre, the Martin Chamber Theatre, etc.). Karin presented herself as one of the stars of the major klezmer festivals in Lviv and St. Petersburg, where her interpretation of Yiddish songs was highly appreciated by such legends as Lorin Sklamberg and Michael Alpert.
The Ladies Ensemble is a Slovak women's chamber orchestra that was founded in 2014 by bringing together professional female musicians, in whose performances you will discover that classical music is far from boring, but full of life, joy and emotions. The artistic director of The Ladies Ensemble is the Slovak violinist Anežka Kara - Drmolová, who performed solo with the Slovak Philharmonic at the age of 14, and later at the age of 16 with the Capella Istropolitana, Žilina State Chamber Orchestra or Hilaris Chamber Orchestra. The members of the ladies' orchestra The Ladies Ensemble are professional players of Bratislava symphony orchestras.
For the concert in Ružomberok, the performers have prepared a special program consisting of Jewish songs interpreted by Karin Sarkisjan, who will be accompanied by a string quartet. The songs will be
supplemented by instrumental compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach, Jean Sibelius, Antonín Dvořák, Dmitri Shostakovich, Philip Glass and Ennio Morricone.
Admission is voluntary. The event is organized by OZ Simach Art as part of the series of concerts Hudba u Fullu.
The "Music u Fullu" project is supported by the Art Support Fund from public sources.
