18 minutes is not enough! Protest happening in support of music and art education
At the beginning of the revision of the Framework Educational Program for Basic Education (FEP) was the word… The word that Czech children would stop bifting, introducing well -banding or supporting art at school by adding other arts. But it turned out as always. At the end of the revision we have harder mathematics, more demanding English, more computer science, mandatory second language… and 5 arts (music, dramatic and dance, art and film education) on an area of two hours a week. Which is exactly 18 minutes for each of them at the 2 elementary school. It is "beautiful" 21.6 minutes per degree. Anyone who has ever worked with the children knows that this is a disaster. Anyone who takes the increase in the mental problems of young people is shaking their heads in disbelief. Instead of proven ways of supporting children, there is the destruction of what worked. Therefore,
we turn to the general public with a challenge to participate in a protest event that responds to the unacceptable reduction of music and art education in primary schools. The newly revised FEP provides changes in the field of art and culture that threaten the future of these disciplines, for music education is almost liquidation. During the event, music ensembles of elementary schools, secondary schools and students of colleges and universities (choirs, instrumental groups, bands) will perform, and will be played together by the Happening participants, and will be presented by demonstrations of good pedagogical practice, and famous personalities of Czech culture will speak.
The aim of the event is to support the importance of music and fine arts in schools, share opinions and experience concerning the reform of the FEP ZV in the field of art and culture, and in particular draw attention to its impacts. Pedagogical Institute. The aim of this dialogue was to draw attention to the harmfulness of the proposal that destructs and radically limits these aesthetic subjects in basic education. Although the representatives of the HV and VV completed a number of negotiations with representatives of the relevant institutions, they explained, submitted professional and factual arguments, pointed out the possible pitfalls and damage of the new concept, drew petitions (4540 signatories), everything without success. The result is a breakage of a functioning structure of disciplines and limitation of the already insufficient time subsidy. Instead of modernization, there was a reduction and reduction of quality, instead of promised innovations and support, pupils have 18 minutes…
for children.
