🗣️ ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Mgr. Dušan Valent has twice captivated homeschoolers with his lectures, which he delivers in an engaging, funny and interactive way.
He works as a scientific columnist, writer and freelance lecturer. He studied geology and paleontology at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the Charles University in Bratislava. He is the editor-in-chief of the Czechoslovak magazine about the oldest history and mythology Lumyd.eu People, myths & history and the scientific editor of the portal Živé.sk and the weekly magazine Plus 7 dni.
He wrote the book Reveal and meet the dinosaurs (Albatros 2022), the humorous sci-fi novel Voices of the Abyss (Artis Omnis 2025) and the publication 77 Mysteries We Know answer (7 Plus 2014). He is the co-author of the books Why do people believe nonsense? (Premedia 2019), History for the Busy (Premedia 2019), Epidemics in History (Premedia 2020), Climate in History (Premedia 2022), History for the Busy 2 (Mamaš 2023) and the show Fosílny svet (Slovak Radio 2013).
He worked as an external or internal lecturer at the Municipal Library in Bratislava (2010–2015) and in the Slovak National Museum (2010–2011). In the years 2013–2015, he led interest groups at the Elementary School for Gifted Children CENADA and Škôlka Vilka (both in Bratislava).
He worked as the editor-in-chief of the popularizing magazine In Vivo (2012–2018), contributed popular science articles to the periodicals Svet přírody, Zázračná planeta, Quark, GoldMan, Brejk, Záračný svet, Život, Journal, SME and Plus 1 day.
