About event

Quadrata Supro (Czech / Italy / Hungary) States)
Tomeka Reid - cello / Mary Halvorson - guitar / Jason roebke - double bass / Tomas Fujiwara - drums

Another band does not recognize all kinds of quadrata supro promises playfulness and tongue. After all, even musical humor belongs to free jazz. Michal Hrubý's wooden brass player likes to joke that the Quadrata Supro is a set of "drum and whistle" follows the cast of the "oldest bands in the world". The drum, respectively the drum kit, percussion and vibraphone, "beat" in Prague, the Italian musician Elia Moretti. With another "whistle", more precisely with the saxophone, Zdeněk Závánný rushes. The prehistoric of the lineup during the autumn concerts will only "break" only the Hungarian guest, double bass player Ernö Hock (tooth, The Qualitons, Jü). But seriously, the Supro quadrat focuses on an extremely interesting fusion of free jazz, ancient folk music roots and free improvisation with elements of ambient or minimalism.

Album Tomeka Reid Quartet, talked about the "Supers Group" and "Summit of the New York and Chicago Improvisation Scene". It was spoken with admiration, great expectations and a little irony: how do four bandleaders play with their own visions in one group? And how long will they last? The forecasts of the mischief did not work out in the least. From the beginning, four of the distinctive individualities have met on a single wave of respect for the concept of Tomeka Reid, interplay, communication, susceptibility and determination to be inspired by each other. After a decade of cooperation and a number of other successful projects of each of the members of the Quartet, the unchanged cast meets with a taste for the third album 3+3 (2024) and the follow -up tour. Top instrumentalists, improvisers and masters of composition in real time. Chicago cellist Tomek Reid (*1977) rightly gained the reputation of a personality who "transferred cello from supporting roles to the center of attention of the contemporary jazz scene". The number of albums in which she participated has exceeded a hundred. Of these, more than a quarter of titles are bandleader or fellowperials. As a sidewoman or a member of the groups, she played Tomek Reid with Art Ensemble of Chicago, Anthony Braxton or flute Nicole Mitchell. The annual Chicago Jazz String Summit was named "Jazz Herinum of the Year 2017". In addition to fourteen profile albums, he has cooperated with icons such as John Zorn (in Prague we also heard it as part of Bagateles Marathon), Anthony Braxton, Elliot Sharp, Ingrid Laubrock and Marc Ribot. Tomeka Reid, controlling and extreme techniques of Cello and favors the creation of unusual tones by purely acoustic means, cannot praise how its "wood" approach is perfectly complemented by the sensitive Mary's use of electronics. projects. He leads Jason Roebke Octet, renowned for solo recitals or performances in the duo with the dancer Ayako Kato. And otherwise, even in Brooklyn, a deposited drummer and composer Tomas Fujara (*1977) founded several recognized groups. For example, Tomas Fujara Trio or Sexteto Triple Double, featuring Ralph Alessi and Mary Halvorson. In return, Fujara became a court member of the Mary Halvorson projects. href = "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaag0lswr4w"> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaag0lswr4w
