About event
The publishing house Amplion Records, which focuses on contemporary Czech authorial activity in the field of jazz and similar genres, will celebrate 20 years at the Jazz Dock! During the evening, three top bands will perform and two of them will christen their new albums! Pavel Hrubé's Limbo will ceremoniously release the CD "Spirit of Chaos" and Trio František Kopa's CD "Concrete Dreams".
Limbo (jazz – world music – improvising)
Limbo has been among the the top of contemporary Czech jazz. The band is straddling several genres, basically it is above them. The unusually cast quartet creates a universal musical collage on a jazz basis. Improvisation, composition, communication and numerous ethnic names intersect significantly throughout the band's existence without any barriers that would limit the musicians' expression. The band is not interested in trends - they go their own way with a clear and distinct opinion. Their fundamental inspiration in jazz history is the legendary band Art Ensemble of Chicago.
František Kop Trio (modern jazz)
The leading Czech saxophonist will perform this time in a trio with bass and drums. In the selection of the repertoire of this trio, emphasis is placed on their own work, which aims at a greater composition of individual compositions. The stylistic range of the original compositions is quite wide, as it is inspired by various musical influences – blues, funk, Latin-jazz or free jazz. But the ensemble also interprets some compositions by the giants of modern jazz, such as J. Coltrane, W. Shorter and T. Monk.
Zuzana Dumková Band (folk - jazz - alternative music)
Singer, guitarist, composer and lyricist Zuzana Dumková has been active on the domestic music scene since the early 90s. Her expression has crystallized from folk work through fusions of rock, jazz and world music and stage music to the current form, which cannot be clearly classified by genre. It is characterized by dynamic accompanying guitar, sensitive vocals and original development of musical ideas. Her debut album Balance was nominated for the Anděl genre award.
