About event
Exactly five years later, we offer you an exhibition by retired Košice former art teacher Oskar Gajdoš under the name 200 new Sunflowers.
In June 2021, he presented us with an extraordinary collection of paintings - 220 variations of Vincent van Gogh's well-known painting Sunflowers. The condition was that two identical paintings cannot occur in the collection. The author himself was not convinced that he could continue and further expand this collection. However, he walked with his eyes open, all kinds of materials were turning into future Sunflowers before his eyes.
Almost the entire collection was created by recycling waste or natural material. The exhibition therefore also has a strong environmental dimension.
Here we find paintings made of hay, straw, withered wood, hair, bird feathers, wire, waste polystyrene, denim, withered flowers, sunflowers, peanuts, painted paintings, several collages and various three-dimensional works made of wood, straw, cardboard, roots...
The author managed to fulfill his own strict condition. – the entire collection must not contain two identical works. Even if the material is the same, it differs in format, styling, color presentation.
We wish you a successful search, you can't always find out at first glance what the picture was made of. If the author happens to be here by chance, he will be happy to tell you about it.
opening: 29/06/2026 at 17:00
duration of the exhibition: until 13/08/2026
opening: TU, WED, THURS from 15:00 to 18:00
