Many books have been published about the Charles Bridge in the past centuries. However, none of them dealt in detail with the iconography of his sculptural decoration. At the same time, the ideological side of the individual works was the main motive for their creation. This publication contains a complete history and description of all the statues and sculptures that have been and are located here. However, some works have completely disappeared over time. Here, for the first time, we encounter complete depictions of current, past and unrealized sculptures, including all surviving drawings or model designs. Part of this work is also a description of the artistic decoration of the Mostecké towers and Křižovnické Square. The authors, as leading experts, also correct a number of myths about the Charles Bridge, which we can come across in countless articles and publications about this unique monument, which fulfills a transport, artistic and spiritual function.
