About event

We invite you to the ceremonial opening of the exhibition 9000 km: Japanese inspiration in Slovak art, which will take place on Friday 31.01.2025 at 18.00h in GJK, Koppelova Villa on the green bush 3 in Trnava.

9,000 kilometers is an expression approximate geographical distance between Bratislava and Toki. The more important thing is that it is also a symbolic distance, two worlds with a different approach to thinking, or in general to life itself. An exhibition called 9,000 km: Japanese inspirations in Slovak art prepared for the Koppel Villa national halls tells the story of a non -violent expansion or about the adoption of cultural patterns that are born in the country of the rising sun and found their place in Slovak fine arts. The exhibition will present sixteen authors and authors creatively active from the second half of the 20th century to the present, who are more or less consciously responding to artistic pre -images or philosophical thought systems stemming in Japanese culture. Inspiration and thematic anchoring works, authors and authors find in Zen-Buddhist philosophy and in a simple desire for simplicity and slowing down. In the second part, the works stand heavily influenced by the Japanese hyperconsum society, pop culture, or mythology, which they apropri and transform in the intentions of Central European thinking. , Pavol Čejka, Svetlana Fialová, Patrícia Koyšová, Mária Maxová, Stanislav Ondruš, Dezider Tóth, Ester Sabik, Boris Sirka, Jozef Sušínka, Erik Šille, Tatiana Takáčová
