About event

as we secure Germany as an immigration goal Germany: place to be? How we secure Germany as an immigration goal

Germany faces major challenges: the shortage of skilled workers is tightening, the population ages, and many regions suffer from migration and economic stagnation. Qualified workers are already missing in numerous industries. According to the Institute for Labor Market and Vocational Research (IAB), around 400,000 immigrants are required annually to keep the workers' potential for stable.

Germany is a country of immigration. That is why immigration was not only essential for the Federal Republic, but also for its future. The OECD "International Migration Outlook" from 2024 shows that qualified immigration promotes innovation, increases tax revenue and stabilizes social systems. At the same time, political discourse is exacerbated. Instead of solution -oriented debates, fears and political blockages dominate. According to a Germany trend survey, 48 % of the questioned immigration sees the most important problem in the country. In asylum and refugee policy, large majorities want a tougher gait.

How can this context succeed in understanding immigration as an opportunity and future strategy? What should a country look like for people with immigration history "The Place to Be"? And what does it need politically, socially and structural so that potential can develop?
