AARON PARKS QUARTET
Event by: Festival de Jazz de Barcelona
Location: Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu, Carrer Nou de la Rambla 88, Barcelona - Ciutat Vella
About event
Aaron Parks, piano
Dayna Stephens, tenor sax
Ben Street, double bass
Billy Hart, drums
Wayne Shorter, Kenny Wheeler, Kurt Rosenwinkel and Duke Ellington are some of the names that the pianist Aaron Parks mentions as influences of compositions From his latest album, 'By All Means' (Blue Note), which premieres at our festival, given that it will be published only one week before this concert. They are pieces, Parks say and we confirm it, "they feel classic but fresh, timeless but personal." A record continues the artist, who is about connections between musicians, traditions and emotions. And Parks, we insist, have chosen our festival to make this precious, lyric and subtle record debut at the head of a very powerful quartet: Dayna Stephens in the tenor sax, Ben Street in the double bass and the legend of Billy Hart drums. How lucky we are.
