Acid Row has long been one of the prominent names of the domestic heavy underground scene. All the more joy is the band's announcement about the upcoming record! The Prague stoner doom band will christen their new album Magic on May 16. The baptism will take place in an atypical club environment - on the Cargo Gallery ship on the Prague embankment. Acid Row will present the record here for the first time ever, although the digital release will take place on May 1, 2026.
The band is known for its uncompromising approach, dark aesthetics and spontaneous concerts, after which no stone will be left unturned in the club. Their last album Poisoned Mind (2024) confirmed their qualities by winning the Anděl awards in the Rock category. The band actively performs concerts throughout Central Europe and has performed alongside world genre icons such as Clutch, Bongzilla, Red Fang and Stoned Jesus.
The new Magic represents the band's most intense recording to date. The album delves into the hypnotic world of slow riffs, nihilism and ritual atmosphere, balancing on the edge of genres such as stoner, doom, sludge or noise rock. The sound is denser, darker and tighter than ever, with an emphasis on repetition and gradual absorption of the listener. Thematically, the record deals with the illusion of power, the destruction of faith and magic as a tool and deception. It loosely follows on from the band's previous work, but this time without a hint of escape - the "rabbit hole" opens fully and the listener falls into the unknown with no possibility of return.
The evening will be completed by special guests in the form of two other bands. The first of them is the Dresden band Dead Myrick, whose work ranges from punchy bar anthems, through rolling stoner boogie to almost Motörhead power rock. Their sound is complemented by distinctive "Lemmy-style" vocals that immediately pull the audience into uncompromising headbanging.
Brno Sloth, originally an instrumental sludge/doom trio formed in 2018, builds on slow, dense and hypnotic riffs. After the release of the debut Sloth (2023), the band expanded the line-up to include vocals and in 2024 presented the singles Runnin' and Dog Shit. He is currently preparing the second album Slothmachine, which he will christen the same evening together with Acid Row.
