The Singaporean youth chamber orchestra ACS International Chamber Orchestra is going on tour in Austria from November 19th. until November 27th
The ACS Chamber Orchestra was founded in 2007 and is based in the capital Singapore. With a series of concerts throughout the year, the chamber orchestra's annual international tour represents a highlight of the youth orchestra's calendar, with previous tours throughout the United States, Europe and Southeast Asia. The string orchestra in particular has received several awards, such as: B. Gold at the LA International Music Festival, silver at the Chicago International Music Festival and 6th place with excellent success at Summa Cum Laude, the international youth music festival that takes place in Vienna.
Under the direction of Mr. Lim Soon Lee, the ACS Chamber Orchestra will be on tour in Austria again in 2024. The program includes songs from film and theater by composers such as Benj Pasek and Justin Paul as well as Joe Hisaishi. The listeners can also enjoy classic pieces by Johann Strauss and Johannes Brahms.
Biography - Mr. Lim Soon Lee (Conductor)
Soon Lee graduated from the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester, New York, in 1983 with a bachelor's degree of Music (award). There he studied viola with Atar Arad and Francis Tursi and completed a two-year conducting course with David Effron and Donald Hunsberger. In the summers of 1984 and 1986, Soon Lee was principal viola at the Heidelberg Music Festival and received another scholarship to study viola with Kim Kashkashian at the Lausanne University of Music in Switzerland. A prominent violist, he was the sole Singaporean representative in the World Philharmonic Orchestra in Montreal, Canada in 1988 and was also Assistant Principal Violist of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO) from 1987 to 1997.
Soon Lee is also an experienced one Conductor who works with many orchestras worldwide. He has conducted the New World Symphony Orchestra in Miami, the Plyzen Radio Symphony Orchestra of the Czech Republic, the Bakersfield Orchestra in California and the KLPac Sinfonietta in Malaysia. At the local level, he has conducted the SSO on several occasions, including the 17th SEA Games at the National Stadium and the first World Trade Organization Ministerial Conference at Sentosa.
