The lecture will offer a historical view of energy and resources in the 20th century construction, which exceeds the discourse of sustainability that appeared in the United States in the 1970s. It will highlight the essential role of rescue, the re -use of materials and mechanized recycling in the restoration of European cities after World War II. This historical reflection will also connect with the present and offer a closer look at the circular reconstruction strategies that appear today in Ukraine.
