🧵 We invite you to the ADHD Pradiareň embroidery workshop that takes place in the form of a picnic under the guidance of our resident, experienced lecturer Eszter Kuzma! Communities in embroidery. At the workshop together we will build on the tradition of Pradien and each participant will embrace the plant of your choice - a symbol that can carry personal or intuitive meaning.
🪡 No previous experience is needed. Without age restriction. Whole families with children are also welcome. The price includes material, lectures and smaller snacks. Other refreshments of your choice is welcome. The Hungarian tradition was the most important place of community life Pradiareň - a place where people met to jointly process the collected hemp and flax for the yarn. These meetings have become great social events. It was not just a job - they allowed people to establish relationships, get to know each other and even look for a partner. Participation in the spinning shop was practically a duty for the members of the village community - it was the key to maintaining relationships and belonging. The yarn was twisted from the collected linen and later woven the fabric. These were used, for example, for bed linen, blankets or pillows that provided the peasants with heat during the winter. Working with the yarn has become a symbol of care. From the autumn crop to the end of the fascination, the spinning has become an activity that grew into various forms - there were spinning meetings for youth, which also served as a space for getting to know each other and convergence. Various therapeutic programs use embroidery, knitting or crochet, as these activities help to alleviate depression, reduce anxiety, promote social ties and strengthen self -confidence. The ADHD Pradiare is designed to draw attention to a particular task and take the mind from disturbing thoughts. Embroidery does not require a special manual skill, but develops fine motor skills. Practicing focused attention helps to alleviate insomnia and rhythmic movements reduce stress. It helps to concentrate, return to the present moment and free yourself for a moment from intrusive thoughts. Thanks to joint work and sharing, barriers are reduced and a relaxed, liberating atmosphere is created.
🔤 The workshop will take place in English. If necessary, it can be interpreted into Slovak.
A residential program from public sources was supported by the Art Support Fund. The Art Support Fund is the main partner of the project. Eszter Julie Kuzma residence is realized thanks to cooperation with Budapest Gallery.
