Afro4band reminds that jazz has roots in Africa
Because the Nigerian-Jiho-African band does not offer an excursion to the past, rather looking for new ways connecting contemporary jazz and funk with African groovy and melodics. The Czech premiere of Afro4band will take place on June 3, 2025 in Prague's New Town Hall. It met four long -respected musicians from Nigeria and South Africa. The idea of creating "all stars" the band arose from the friendship of Bright Gain musician and Impresarium Geoffrey Kwal to establish a label aphrodyssey. And if they have an independent brand, why not put together her court band. He has had a number of his own albums and cooperation with American jazz double bass player David Friesen (Chick Corea, Stan Getz or Kenny Garrett). It was Friesen who said about Gain: "Gain lives on stage and beyond the music. An honest, pure musician, with the gift of God's glory in every note he plays." In addition, with an emphasis on brilliant control of the instrument and other musical abilities. So that the sound of the band is as colorful and universal as possible, while the line -up remains closed and operative, ideally four -member. The rope in the band thus got Nigerian virtuoso Victor Ademofe, not only a great trumpeter and player on the fblem, but also a percussionist and vocalist. Formal musical education developed Ademofe at the State University of Lagos and also received a diploma on the London Royal School of Music. In 2015, he won the title "Best Trumpeter Nigeria", awarded by the organization Nigeria Gospel Music. He played alongside such stars as Roy Hargrove, Kirk Wharum or Hugh Masekela. On the trumpet so noble! ” His more unknown and award -winning work includes a share of Fragile's debut (2010) Seoul and Jazz Singer Assandy BAM or Production I AM and Living Testimony (2011) for the popular Afropop's wonder Judith Sephum.
Composer, producer and teacher with thirty -year intensive practice Wale Adeyemi. He is also a graduate of music studies at the Lagos State University, and he also stood on stage with legends like Hugh Masekela. In Nigeria it is one of the most sought -after Sidemans, and also organizes a solo drum show.
And what do Afro4 play for genre? Players agreed that their fusion of jazz, modern popular music and African styles is so individual that it can call it the "Afro4 sound".
