About event
Slovakia is facing an important question: Will our elections be really fair and transparent?
Topics we will discuss:
The fairness of elections in Slovakia depends on clear rules, independent institutions and active citizens, but the system has weaknesses in the control of campaigns, the dominance of parties in commissions and risks such as misinformation or pressure on the media. The discussion will focus on what citizens, young people and civic initiatives can do, and what legislative changes would most strengthen trust in elections. The guests will also look at whether Slovakia is ready to challenge the election results and which single change to the law would be the most important.
Why come?
Because fair elections are not a given. They are the result of rules, control, civic courage and a willingness to ask questions. And this discussion is a space where you can find out what you can do, what rights you have, and what obligations political parties have.
Ondrej Dostál (OKS) & Peter Čech (SaS) will discuss - an open debate about citizens' rights, party obligations and risks for democracy
