Discussion: How can you do queer science?*

As part of the LIGHT QUEER FESTIVAL 2026*, we invite you to an open discussion "How to do queer science?", which will focus on the question of how to think about queer research and teaching today and what place gender and sexuality topics have in the academic environment.
Together we will talk about experiences from research, teaching and institutional functioning of universities. We are interested in what challenges work with these topics brings, where it encounters resistance or misunderstanding, but also what possibilities, new perspectives and ways of thinking it opens up. The discussion will be devoted mainly to what it means to do queer science in the local academic and social context today and how to create space for critical, sensitive and emancipating knowledge.
The guests of the discussion will be:
• Veronika Valkovičová
• Zuzana Maďarová
• Jana Fusková
There will also be space for questions from the audience and joint debate. We will be happy if you come to discuss, share your experiences or just listen to different perspectives on what queer science can look like today.
