The Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic is changing. It has long been no longer only about market workers and shop assistants, the second generation has grown up and offered new managers, dentists, lawyers, directors, journalists, spokespeople, officials and doctors. What was it like for them growing up on the border of Vietnamese and Czech culture? Which mentality prevails among them, how do they cope with stereotypes, what did Christmas look like for them and how well can those who were born in the Czech Republic and who were cared for by Czech "grandmothers and aunties" even speak Vietnamese?
This is not the only topic that will be discussed in the June debate Aktually z Knihovna.
The moderator will be the editor of Aktuálně.cz Viet Tran, who will invite other Czech Vietnamese (or Vietnamese Czechs) across various disciplines to the Václav Havel Library to share their stories.
