About event
Albertina, Vienna
The question" What is light? "is the focus of Brigitte Kowanz. Your answer is: "Light is what you see" - a guiding principle that refers to the paradox that light makes everything visible, but it usually remains invisible. The retrospective of the same name in the Albertina has been running through the work of the important artist since the 1980s.
Light, which is characterized by volatility, limitlessness and intensity, takes on a leading role in this exhibition. In specially created mirrored rooms, the lighting works are reflected down to the infinity or only brought into its own by using black light.
In addition, the iconic work Morsealphabet and eMail 02.08.1984 03.08.084 are shown today's current issues, Predict virtualization and the information society.
The exhibition can be seen from July 18 to November 9, 2025.
