Jörg Immendorffs café germany pictures or Joseph Beuys' Protest. The most important private collections in Germany, the focus of which is undoubtedly the art of one's own country, with a special focus on the artist: inside that shaped the Rhineland and its art centers Cologne and Düsseldorf as the germ cell of the avant -garde of international importance. 24 artist positions were selected for the great spring exhibition to present the development of German painting and sculpture after 1960.The show shows the depth of this collection at an overview: by Joseph Beuys, Gerhard Richter and Sigmar Polke, which stands for the "cheeky", socially critical art of the 1960s, about which of the 1980s, Albert Oehlen or Katharina Sieverding have been shaped, the field of figurative and abstract art of the 21st century, which is represented with works by Neo Rauch, Daniel Richter, Isa Genzken and Katharina Grosse. Placed large formats, the conceptual works of Joseph Beuys and Rosemarie Trockel's neighboring adjacent, while some halls continue to speak to Anne Imhof's or Katharina Grosses. It is intended to make the most essential works of the Rhineland collection accessible to a broad Austrian audience, and show how excellently the two collections interlock. This will also be reappeared, the approaches created in it are better readable and evident.

In the music, a remix is a new version of already composed pieces of music - the processing of original recordings, in which the existing voices or sound traces are mixed up. This is also how our presentation is to be understood - the Viehof collection and the in -house contemporary collection are mixed up here in order to show the strengths and topicality of both collections and to bring our visitors closer to contemporary art in a multifaceted duet.
Collection in Austria, but the relationship with the Albertina has been going on for a long time: Since 2007, individual, important works of the Viehof Collection have been in the Albertina collection. Building on this in the form of cooperation in the form of long -term cooperation from 2025, this has been decided for the coming years. The research of the Collection of Viehof -its various works and artists -opens the Albertinagleich two options: On the one hand, relevant works and groups of the names represented in both collections can be brought together, and the audience can thus be given a wide range of insight into the work. On the other hand, the complementary differences between the two collections can be determined on those artists who are not represented on both sides, and also contribute to the expansion of contemporary art.
Some of the artists' positions that can be presented to the audience for the first time by the stocks of the cattle farm have been little known in Austria and have so far hardly been shown. For example, Corinne Wasmuht's large-format, brightly colored work, Nairy Baghramian's eccentric sculptures and Karin Kneffel's masterly figurative paintings are devoted to their own rooms
The exhibition is from April 11 to September 14, 2025 in Albertina Modern see.
