This year Ali Yansori published a book called The Journey of the Free Spirit by Malvern. Sufism and the Taste of Being
The author has prepared a lecture discussing the connection between psychoanalysis and Sufism.
Annotation:
Sufism has been a strong force of counterculture in Iran for centuries. This lecture deals with this rich tradition. The first part of the lecture offers a general introduction to Sufism; the second part explores basic Sufi concepts of interest to psychoanalysts, such as desire, love, and restlessness; and the final section briefly considers what lessons psychoanalysis might learn from Sufism.
The lecture will be held in English.
