Alien Ant Farm + support: Rabies

American Alien Ant Farm will bring a dynamic fusion of alternative metal and post-grunge to the Rock Café on August 12. Visitors can expect sharp riffs, catchy choruses and frontman Dryden Mitchell in prime form. This band escapes the boxes and serves raw rock'n'roll with the stamp of the turn of the millennium.

California's Alien Ant Farm are not just a band associated with one cover version. Their music is a sophisticated fusion of alternative metal and post-grunge that avoids simple boxes. With Dryden Mitchell's characteristic, shifting vocals and instrumental sophistication, they create a sound that is both hard and melodically rich.

The debut Greatest Hits indicated the direction, but it wasn't until the platinum album ANThology (2001) with the hits Movies and Attitude that confirmed their place on the scene. AAF masterfully combine complex rhythms (which some mistake for nu-metal) with catchy, pop-oriented choruses. It is this balancing between hard rock, post-grunge mood and funk rock influences (especially in their hyperactive hit Smooth Criminal) that forms the essence of Alien Ant Farm. Their later work, such as TruANT (2003) and Always and Forever (2015), maintained a strong melodic thrust and lyrical depth, with the band breaking free from any genre trends and defining their own energetic style.

At Rock Café, patrons can look forward to a career-spanning show full of intensity, where nostalgia collides with timeless rock drive.
