The first part of the festival 𝓐𝓵𝓽𝓮𝓻𝓷𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓿𝓪 will take place on Friday, November 15 at the Žižkov atrium.
This evening will be in the spirit of exploring the lowest sound levels. Several projects will be presented; among them the Norwegian-French quartet Dans les arbres, which brings together prominent representatives of the jazz and improvisation scene. You hardly come across the sounds of instruments, but noise, screeching and tinkling merge into an almost meditative zone. They will be joined, among others, by the Swedish musician Linnéa Talp, who was enchanted by the liminal nature of the organ surfaces and the bodily dimension of the drone music: the constant pulse of the sound masses she creates resembles a breath in the present time.

How lyrical can extended techniques be? In Dans les arbres, you hardly come across standard instrument sounds, but despite all the rustling, screeching and tinkling, the French-Norwegian quartet operates in an almost meditative mode. The discretion with which each sound is placed into an (improvised) whole is key. The music of Dans les arbres unfolds slowly, often bordering on silence, but always in several layers, where the individual instruments – a prepared piano, a guitar, a big drum and cymbals, a clarinet – intertwine in an enchanting soundscape without any hint of hierarchy.
Linnéa Talp
Swedish musician Linnéa Talp was originally devoted to pop music, but later became fascinated by the liminal nature of organ surfaces and the bodily dimension of drone music. For her, the constant pulse of endless sound masses is connected with the cycle of inhalation and exhalation and with an almost meditative focus on the present. Talp moves in similar spheres as her compatriots Kali Malone and Ellen Arkbro, but her approach is more intuitive and especially focused on small details that only stand out in the face of monolithic music.

The Re-Patched project aims to revive the legacy of Polish composer Bogusław Schaeffer. The art collective examines his unorthodox compositional work and the methods by which he bridged the gap between Eastern and Western European cultural heritage. It thus pays tribute to his work and makes it accessible to younger generations of composers in the field of experimental and contemporary music. a pivotal figure in twentieth-century music was composed and dedicated by others. The concert takes place as part of a project supported by the Visegrad Fund. The festival is supported by the Czech Ministry of Culture and the Czech State Culture Foundation the beautiful city of 𝘗ραḥ.
