About event
On January 18, the Music Building, together with the Marmoucha Foundation and the MJG Foundation, will celebrate the second edition of the Amazigh New Year, the start of Yennayer 2975. This special evening is dedicated to the rich and diverse culture of the Amazigh, the original inhabitants of North Africa, with a special focus on the Amazigh regions of Morocco. The program offers a unique mix of music, song and dance. Artists perform stories and traditions from various Amazigh regions, including the Rif, the Middle Atlas and the Anti-Atlas. These stories and traditions are characterized by authentic Amazigh melodies, traditional rhythms and dances, which together bring to life the rich culture of the Amazigh people.
Zakaria Ghafouli is known for his unique ability to perform traditional Amazigh music to modernize. Wafa Miras, a versatile singer and performer, combines both power and drama in her impressive singing style. Ahwach Group Affous Roffous performs stirring singing and group dancing typical of the Anti-Atlas. The Marmoucha Ensemble performs its own repertoire, accompanies all soloists and connects these styles with contemporary influences. The evening ends with a festive afterparty in the Entrance Hall, where the popular Riffian singer Hassan Twill will perform.
