✨Amsterdam 750 jaar - From Sweelinck to the Jordaan: Amsterdam sounds over the centuries
On Friday, October 17 at 8 p.m. Evan Bogerd brings an ode to 750 years of Amsterdam in the monumental Westerkerk. In the atmospheric with candlelight lit Westerkerk, he takes you on a musical Amsterdam journey through time.
Evan Bogerd, the versatile organist of the Westerkerk, plays the monumental Duyschot organ (1686). An impressive instrument that has been witnessed for many centuries of the Amsterdam developments.
The program opens spectacularly with the symphonic preludium of Gustav Mahler, followed by a tribute to Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck. The international character of Amsterdam is reflected in Bach's adaptation of a concerto printed in Amsterdam by Antonio Vivaldi.
The Amsterdam Romanticism comes to life in works by Cor Kint and Hendrik Andriessen. Andriessen's work is linked to the Anne Frank statue that stands for the Westerkerk. Evan Bogerd tells the story!
The rich Amsterdam Bruckner-Mahler tradition is of course not missing. In addition to the Mahler opening, Anton Bruckner sounds the opening part from his fifth symphony.
As a festive closure, Evan Bogerd improves over Jordaan-Hits and you can sing along at the most beautiful place in Amsterdam: 'Under' De Westertoren!
a worthy of the city. Zorg dat je erbij bent!
