On Saturday, December 14, 2024, the traditional Existence Party will be held, which will present the autumn issue of the anarchist review Existence (nolog.link/s/EoPTQM), which is largely devoted to the topic of anarchist pedagogy.
We grasp the common understanding of the concepts of education and school and confront it through the characteristic lens of questioning authoritarian principles. We will ask what the institutionalized state-run education is really for and what its "hidden curriculum" is. We will expose the false myths that are passed around the established school system, such as the supposed social progress, equal opportunities and its emancipatory potential. Instead of solving how to make such a system better, we prefer to ask ourselves the fundamental question of whether the school as we know it is even needed. Let's pretend that we are not experts in pedagogy, as well as in many other topics, but this does not prevent us from asking questions in areas that directly affect our lives and looking for answers that correspond to the vision of a free and self-governing society.
The creators of Existence welcome any feedback as well as ideas for the main themes of the next issues and ideas for improvements. Not only the current issue of Existence, but also the older ones, as well as other publications from Nakladatelství AF will be available for purchase.
The introductory presentation of the topic will begin at 6.30 pm in the autonomous space Trhlina (Jaromírova 9, Prague 2). But arrive earlier, because dinner will be prepared from 18.00! And if you feel like it, bring others to taste something good and vegan from your kitchen. After the thematic discussion, there will be a free discussion and entertainment.
