Anasoft litera presents Ivana Dobrakovová and Marek Vadas
23. 6. 2026, 17:00
Summer reading room U rosého raka, Michalská 26
Two collections of short stories, two worlds, one evening. Ivana Dobrakovová and Marek Vadas will introduce their books nominated for the Anasoft litera 2026 award.
Ivana Dobrakovová: Other thoughts (Marenčin PT, 2025)
Young girls in their first relationships, mothers and daughters entangled in food fights, an expat without the right to talk to the locals, a lover with uncomfortable thoughts, a teacher facing students, but also watching grandfathers and a psychiatrist who can imagine almost anything. Dobrakovová draws portraits of women at the limit of what is bearable - with irony, precision and without pity.
Ivana Dobrakovová (1982) is a translator and writer living in Italy. She won the European Union Prize for Literature for the collection Mothers and truck drivers. Her books have been published in more than ten languages.
the discussion with Ivana Dobrakovová is moderated by: Miroslava Vallová
Marek Vadas: The Valley (KK Bagala, 2025)
The Valley takes place in an African autocratic country, where the government army terrorizes part of the civilian population. However, distance does not play a role here, because the situation is surprisingly similar to ours. Marek Vadas draws from both real facts and personal experience: in the small African kingdom of Nyenjei, he acted as an advisor to the king.
Marek Vadas (1971) is a writer whose prose repeatedly appears in the ten Anasoft litera. He also won the main prize for the Healer collection, his children's books were published in more than ten languages. The discussion with Marek Vadas is moderated by: Andrea Makýšová Volárová. Event partner: City library in Bratislava. and media partners.
