Andy Warhol - songs of my mother Julia

Location: Námestie Kráľovnej pokoja 3, Námestie Kráľovnej pokoja 3, Prešov
About event
This unconventional multimedia music project is based on the original Ruthenian folk songs that were sung a cappella by Andy Warhol's mother - Júlia Warholová Zavacka in the late 1970s in a recording studio in New York.
The LP record with her voice subsequently reached "the region" - as Júlia fondly called her native land - in the form of a Christmas present for her loved ones.
The goal of the project is to bring the charm of these unique songs processed in the style of world music to a wider audience and at the same time remember the roots of one of the most important artists of the second half of the 20th century - the king of pop art Andy Warhol, whose family roots go back to the village of Miková in northeastern Slovakia.
Vocals: Igor Kucer
Guitars: Peter Uher
Keyboard instruments: Lukáš Cintula
