About event
Anna Seghers, who often seemed rather shy and cautious, found support in her friends, whom she trusted implicitly, exchanged ideas with, and laughed without embarrassment. The writer remained close with the actresses Steffie Spira and Helene Weigel, the author Berta Waterstradt and the politician Lore Wolf until the end of her life.
The writer Anna Seghers found a new home in Berlin-Adlershof after many years in exile. Her apartment on today's Anna-Seghers-Straße, where she lived from 1955 until her death in 1983, has been preserved true to the original and can be viewed after registration. In addition to the furnishings and personal memorabilia that bear witness to an international life, Anna Seghers' library is particularly impressive. Around 10,000 volumes, including books by writer friends from many countries, are spread across the four rooms and the hallway.
