About event
I can fit into a foreign language
From the clavicle to the ankle
with oxygen I inhale the otherness
Prickness of the fields fields
The heart is deliberately squeezed more often
Heats the baping attempt
Become someone else
We invite you to the author's evening and the presentation of the bilingual book of Anna Siekykh poems Foreignity on Wednesday 26.2. From 18:00 to Artfora to the main ul.
Modes Alfred Tóth. . The poems create a unique space in which Ukrainian and Slovak intertwine, interview and refer to themselves. They reflect the confidence that language is not only a means of communication, but also the materialization of collective and individual memory. The young author does not deny her eagerness in discovering the world, but at the same time she encounters the cruelty of this time, a war that affects and changes everything. Sedykhh's work is unique in Slovak literature and brings unexpected enrichment of the Slovak and Ukrainian culture, which originated under these extraordinary tragic circumstances. She is a graduate of the Department of Mass Media Communication at the University of Sts. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava and the Department of Literary Science and Comparatistics for the Kyjivo-Mohylian Academy in Kyjiv. During the school she completed a study stay at Comenius University in Bratislava in the field of Slovak literature and literary science. She worked in the Municipal Library in Bratislava as a librarian, lecturer and dramaturgist, in the Bratislava City Gallery and the Museum of Bratislava as a translator. She is currently working as a production and dramaturgist in the cultural center Malý Berlin and as a curator of the Ukrainian program at the Goethe Institute in Bratislava. In the same year, she attended a creative writing course at the University of Iowa and a year later she participated in the residence and workshops of Propysy in Ivano-Frankivsk, under the auspices of the Ukrainian PEN organization. Created texts were published in the anthology of Propysy 2024. It publishes in Slovak, Czech and Ukrainian periodicals and deals with the translation of Slovak and Ukrainian literature.
