Rabo de Peixe is the official book of the most watched Portuguese series of all time. Exclusive interviews and photographs in a unique work that reveals behind the scenes of the series broadcast on Netflix. The original concept by Augusto Fraga is joined by texts by Helena Ales Pereira and photographs by Inês Subtil to create an unprecedented book-object where it is possible to discover some of the secrets behind the success of Rabo de Peixe.
< On May 26, 2023, Rabo de Peixe premiered on Netflix. Two days later, the Portuguese series was number 1 in the national Netflix chart, where it remained for more than two months, thus becoming the most watched series of all time in Portugal. Across borders, it reached more than 190 countries and, in another 38, the story of four friends trying to escape their destiny reached the top of the most watched series, accumulating more than 45 million hours of views, according to data released by the company in June this year.
But how did you get here? Who are the people who created and interpreted this story? How do you start from a real event to build a fiction series that, in many ways, was a pioneer in Portugal? Using never-before-seen photographs, taken during the filming of the first season of Rabo de Peixe, and interviews with the team and main cast who produced and directed it, over the course of a year, this book takes us behind the scenes of the series and the respective process of creation.
From the creator, Augusto Fraga, to the cast, including the director of photography, the art director, costumes and characterization, music and special effects, among others, we know the secrets behind the success of Fishtail. Since its debut, the series has won the Mais Alentejo, GQ Moty, Sophia for Best Series, Golden Globe for Best Series and the SPA Authors award.
