Rita Canas Mendes
Writer and translator, Rita Canas Mendes (Lisbon, 1984) has worked in the publishing world for almost two decades. He has published books in different areas — from practical guides to children's books, including essays —, some of which have been translated into languages such as Chinese, Persian or Italian. In 2021 he won a Literary Creation Grant and, more recently, two artistic residencies, in Paris and Maputo. He provides training to adults and children, and has participated in numerous festivals and debates. Theory of Elementary Catastrophes is his first novel, published in 2024. Observatory is his first foray into poetry.
