About event
On the occasion of commemorating the 91st anniversary of the death of the composer Josef Suk, we cordially invite you to a repeat of the program Archeology of Proximity. The poetic music-literary program approaches the life and work of the composer Josef Suk through the eyes and words of his grandson, poet, essayist and editor Jan Suk, and is based on his book Melancholic stólty oblaku.
Both Josef Suk and Jan Suk traveled from place to place in their lives, and yet they always returned to their native Povltáví, where they lived a significant part of their lives. They are united by their birthplace in Křečovice, inspired by the landscape, creative spirit and destiny passed down from generation to generation. Family memories, documents, pictures, objects, ideas and feelings are composed of a fine lyrical-epic portrait of closeness that transcends time and the experience of a personal meeting.
The program is interspersed with visual documentation, musical samples from the work of Josef Suk and poems by Jan Suk, which become an organic part of the statement about the search for personal and gender identity.
Performers: Libor Ulovec (narrator), Pavel Hoza (poems by Jan Suk), Tomáš Trávníček (narrator), Veronika van der Ent (female voices) and Marie Kozáková (singing)
Scenario, dramaturgy and direction: Leona Bohdálková and Veronika van der Ent
Music dramaturgy: Jonáš Hájek
Sound: Wijn van der Ent
The show will take place on 29/05/2026 from 19:00 in the club Behind the school (https://www.zaskolou.com/). The entrance fee is 250 CZK.
We recommend booking tickets as soon as possible via e-mail: [email protected]. The number of places is very limited.
Thank you to the SHM Club Neveklov (https://www.shmneveklov.cz/) and the Za skolovou club.
