About event

There are not many fools in the world to dare to Greenland Circle Trail back and forth in one year - in summer and winter. But Pavel and Jirka include them. Together with his friends in the summer of 2023, they set out for this 170 kilometer trek across the Greenland wilderness. Epic, beautiful and wild. The only decay of beauty was endless rain and ubiquitous mosquitoes who had dominated Greenland for years. "Wouldn't Arctic Circle Trail be even better?" They called themselves. With this idea they decided to return, this time in the winter, when the landscape covers only snow and ice. Outside was -25 ° C, in front of them the wilderness, the Polish post office lost half of their supplies, and the mood dropped to the freezing point. He sets out much better, ”recalls Jirka. And then there was no choice but to go into the freezing landscape. Each of them enjoyed the silence and loneliness of this island in his own way. For both of them, the Arctic Circle Trail was not only a huge adventure, but also a life experience they would never forget.

P. Stejskal, J. Kalát - Two fools behind the Arctic Circle and not only there
Pavel Stejskal and Jirka Kalát have known each other for many years and have been traveling together for almost the same time. While for Paul in the north, movement in the north has been a natural part of his life since the youthful years, Jirka, thanks to Pavel, had to slowly find his love for the north. Together they went through a part of the royal journey in Sweden, managed a kayaker course on the Norwegian island of Senja or walked from Beroun to Aš. Neither of them is afraid of challenges or adventure, and love for Greenland is common to them. Both of them are still talking about it and already during writing a common book planned other expeditions that would help them get to know this fascinating piece of the country. The northern country has fallen in love as a child during the first visit to Norway in 1998. Since then he has been traveling regularly for the Arctic Circle, preferably in the winter on skis, when he can admire the aurora. He was also convinced of the magic of the North during his design studio in Trondheim, Norway. Pavel also has experience in the automotive industry at the Škoda Auto and Hyundai Motors and, in addition to the north, visited Uganda, Israel and Indian Ladakh.

Jiří Kalát (1984) He traveled and spent many countries, including a year spent by studying Israeli-Palestinian relations in Jerusalem, which he wrote about the book everyone here lies (2019). He is the author of other books, such as three and a half Arabar (2023), which maps his journeys in North Africa. He continues his passion for travel as a guide to the Brno travel agency Kudrna and Czech-Marocki to experience Morocco.
