_______
The Canadian band Arkells will celebrate their 20th anniversary next year - and thus two decades filled with life-affirming indie rock and anthemic soundtracks for the very special moments in life. In 2006, the five guys from Arkell Street in Hamilton formed a band and, apparently with a practical mind, made short work of the band name. The focus should be on the engaging sound anyway, which Arkells mixes together from elements of alternative or indie rock and vintage soul, to which singer/songwriter approaches or modern R&B are sometimes added here and there. What holds the versatile sound together since their debut album “Jackson Square” from 2008 is, in addition to the enthusiastic voice of singer Max Kerman, above all the community spirit with which Arkells take their sound out into the world. The Canadians achieved their big breakthrough with their third album “High Noon” (2014) and have been releasing new albums ever since.
