About event
On Friday evening, April 11, 2025, Tsirani Tsar will perform the impressive Armenian Oratorium in the atmospheric Amstelkerk in Amsterdam. The choir and combo are being strengthened especially for this occasion by an ensemble of talented singers from Balkankoor Slavuj and extra instrumentalists.
This moving oratory was composed in 1985 by the Armenian composer Khachhatour Avedissian in memory of the genocide of 1915. In seven moving parts he interweaves the pain, the sadness and the indestructible hope of the Armenian people in an immensely musical narrative. The work has since conquered a special place in our repertoire and has grown into a beloved and frequently known piece of music in the Netherlands.
let yourself be carried away by the power and emotion of this timeless masterpiece. In addition to this oratory, Tsirani Tsar also plays songs related to the Armenian genocide and the expulsion from Turkey: such as the desire for Mush in Msho Gorani, how the beautiful Adana has turned into a desert in Adnanaji Wohgperke and the horrible way to Erzrum. Each song contributes to a deeper historical and musical stratification of this special evening.
The church opens at 7:45 PM, there is no break.
