As part of the 35th annual Musica Sacra international festival, we invite you to an exceptional concert by one of the most renowned European ensembles for early music – Ars Antiqua Austria.
Under the direction of violinist and artistic director Gunar Letzbor, a selection from the legendary Rosary Sonatas by Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber will be performed. This unique cycle was created in the second half of the 17th century and belongs to the highlights of baroque violin literature. Fifteen sonatas inspired by the secrets of the rosary combine deep spirituality with extraordinary musical imagination and technical virtuosity. Biber also uses the fascinating technique of scordatura - unconventional violin tuning, thanks to which each sonata acquires its own unique sound character. The result is music full of colors, emotions and spiritual depth, which even after more than three centuries can appeal to the contemporary listener.
