Art & Aperitif - The Berlin Secession and its enemies
Event by: Bröhan Museum
Location: Bröhan Museum, Schloßstraße 1a, Berlin - Bezirk Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf
About event
During our exclusive Friday tours through the exhibition "Havel Air and City Lights. City and Country in the Painting of the Berlin Secession," we toast together with a drink afterwards.
THEME
No modern movement without reactionary headwind: In its transnational stance, the Berlin Secession found itself confronted with chauvinistic slogans and anti-Semitic agitation. But despite conservative counter-speech and ethnic agitation, it organized highly acclaimed, international exhibitions, championed young, socially critical art and promoted free artistic thinking. With her cosmopolitan attitude, she contradicted the idea of Germanism. Some aspects that inevitably remind of current political controversies are highlighted in the tour.
INFO
every 6 p.m., guided tour including a drink, €20 per person, limited number of participants, registration not required
