A cordial invitation to the vernissage and award ceremony of the ART AWARD 2026 in the textile art category.
The professional association of Austrian visual artists awards this prize to make the special status of textile art visible. Textile works move at the interface of craftsmanship, concept and social reflection. They combine tradition with contemporary artistic practice - and yet are often underestimated in the art world.
This year's title "Memories of the Future" calls on us to rethink time: How does memory shape our visions? And how do images of the future shape our actions today? Ten works were selected from numerous submissions that deal with these questions in their own way. The main prize, worth 500 euros, will be awarded at the vernissage.
A jury of experts made up of curators and artists will select the ten most convincing works from the submissions. These will be presented as part of an exhibition at the Bella Volen Gallery, Landesgerichtsstraße 6, 1010 Vienna.
Supporting contemporary textile art begins with visibility. Presence at the exhibition and award ceremony means recognition for an art form that combines material, history and future in a special way.
