ASTRONALIA 2024 – COSMIC SOUNDS AND VISIONS is an artistic and scientific project of the KOSMOS Artistic Foundation from Toruń. This is a series of events carried out in four towns in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship located on the Copernicus Trail: Brodnica, Chełmno, Grudziądz and Toruń. The project consists of concerts, lectures and workshops planned for the period from April to December 2024. The ASTRONALIA 2024 series of events is a continuation of the very well-received DE REVOLUTIONIBUS 2023 project (prepared in connection with the celebration of the 550th birthday of Nicolaus Copernicus), implemented by the Kosmos Artistic Foundation in 2023.

➡️ hours 7:00 p.m.: screening of space films made on the disakop - selected effects of workshops from Brodnica, Chełmno, Grudziądz and Toruń (Anna Ruta Pilewicz, Mateusz Matyasik),
➡️ hrs. 19:45: multimedia lecture by astronomer Sebastian Soberski (head of the Planetarium and Astronomical Observatory in Grudziądz, radio astronomer at the Institute of Astronomy of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Piwnice near Toruń)
➡️ hr. 20:15: electronic music concert of the group VOICES OF THE COSMOS (Rafał Iwański - Toruń, Wojciech Zięba - Grudziądz) enriched with cosmic video images

Project ASTRONALIA 2024 popularizes astronomy, referring, among other things, to the scientific heritage of Nicolaus Copernicus, and also promotes local electronic music. The project also aims to emphasize the interdisciplinary nature of artistic phenomena. Concerts and lectures are aimed at a wide audience, while sound and visual workshops are dedicated to children and teenagers. These events will enable participants, regardless of age, interested in music and film, to discover the fascinating world of science, including modern astronomy, cosmology, physics and the Copernican revolution.
VOICES OF THE COSMOS
A group created by two sound artists: Rafał Iwański (known from the bands ||ALA|MEDA|| and HATI) and Wojciech Zięba (solo performing as ELECTRIC URANUS, producer acoustic instruments), as well as astronomer Sebastian Soberski, head of the Planetarium and Astronomical Observatory in Grudziądz and radio astronomer at the Institute Astronomy of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Piwnice near Toruń. VOICES OF THE COSMOS innovatively combines the achievements of astronomy with electroacoustic music. The creators use original extraterrestrial signals and sounds received by radio telescopes (including pulsars, planetary magnetospheres, the Sun, aurora borealis, masers) and other radio devices. They also use sonification techniques and archival recordings from space missions. Instrumental tracks, integrated with processed rhythms and tones of "cosmic sounds", are created using electronic instruments - both digital and analog - and various acoustic objects.
The project was presented many times in the form of audiovisual concerts in prestigious scientific institutions, galleries, clubs and music festivals, also in an extended version to include astronomical lectures and sky observations, as well as sound and astronomy workshops.
The organizer of the project is the Kosmos Artistic Foundation from Toruń.
The main partner of the project is the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship.
