About event

Karel Vachko's latest, almost six-hour movie novel looks for ways to make the world a better place to live. Divided into four parts, it explores contemporary politics, philosophy, religion and art.

Fifty years since the Prague Spring and thirty years since the Velvet Revolution, he takes stock of social development and sees the only possible future in direct democracy, which he believes will be enabled by the connection of humanity computer network. The center of the action is the choir room of the documentary department of FAMU in Prague, from where the author conceptually controls his cinematic universe and where, for twenty-five years of his teaching career to date, he invited debates and filmed important contemporaries and his students.

All of them pass through the film. and together they draw attention to the often humorous paradoxes and contradictions of the time. Special attention is paid to revolutions, starting with Cromwell's, which indeed move humanity forward, but at the cost of violence and the misuse of central ideas for the power ambitions of individuals.

This is also the case with communism, which Vachek personally experienced and reports about. testimony. He remembers his dead relatives and quotes his favorite books and movies. There will also be samples from his past films, which together form a continuous and continuous stream of images, in which, across decades and continents, reform communist Josef Smrkovský and American President Donald Trump or artist Marcel Duchamp and Prime Minister Andrej Babiš can meet.
