About event

The Garden Atlas is an interactive exhibition of Igor Rjabinin's doctoral thesis, which connects objects found in the Prüger-Wallner garden with works from the online art collection.

Visitors are invited to walk through the garden, find a small object from their surroundings and bring it to the house. Once placed in the light box, the system scans the object and compares it to digitized artwork using computer vision. The result is a new diptych - a meeting between what is right here, physically present, and an image from the cultural heritage collection.

A sound layer is also part of the installation. Each brought object co-creates the soundscape of the exhibition, composed of field recordings directly from the Prüger-Wallner garden. Object, image and sound come together in a short open story that may not have one correct answer.

The project is based on the question of what happens to a work of art when it is moved from the gallery to the database. Online collections make vast amounts of images accessible, but often strip them of context, story, and relationships. The garden atlas investigates whether these lost layers can be reactivated - through chance, association, play and the personal experience of the visitor.

The opening of the exhibition will take place on June 24, 2026 at 18:00 in the Prüger-Wallner garden.

The musical guest will be Jonatán Pastirčák / Pjoni, author of the sound part of the application.

The exhibition is open daily 25 - 30 June 2026, 9:00 - 17:00.
