About event
Aufwind is a music group founded in East Berlin in 1984 that is dedicated to Yiddish songs and Klesmer music. In 1989 the group met the clarinetist Giora Feidman and the following year was the first foreign group to be invited to the renowned Klezmer Festival in Safed (Israel), where several joint concerts with Feidman took place.
AUFWIND went to Eastern Europe and sought out survivors of the war, looking for answers to their questions, looking for their responsibility and finding their own identity. Since then, they have not stopped searching and making their discoveries audible.
AUFWIND has performed at many national and international festivals, e.g. B. in Toronto at the largest Klesmer festival in the world, also in South America, Lisbon, Istanbul and Brussels and was celebrated in a sold-out concert on New York's Broadway. The English magazine “Classic CD” listed the 1996 CD “Awek di Junge jorn” among the top 12 Klezmer CDs, and several of the group’s CD productions were nominated for the German Record Critics’ Prize.
“…outstanding through authenticity, through musical skill and empathy and their unbridled desire to make music.” NEW TIME

Andreas Rohde – vocals, bandonion
