About event

Bharatanatyam is a dance originating from Tamil Nadu, South India. It is one of the Indian Classical Dance styles, drawing on the influence of Vedic texts.
This dance has a strong connection with theater, as it uses symbolic hand gestures (hasta abhinaya) and facial expressions to build narratives.
It also has a non-narrative side, characterized by the rigor of geometric lines, in which the dancers resemble living sculptures.
Warm-up exercises based on postures yoga expand the effects of regular practice of this dance: tone, flexibility, resistance, body posture and creative expression.

Classes are given by Eeshani Lasya in the Yoga Room, at the following times:
WEDNESDAYS
- Children (4-12 years old): 5:30pm-6:15pm
