Contemporary Movement classes are aimed at children aged 7 and over. In these classes, a different way of thinking about the body, movement and body expression is introduced:
. “thinking the body/moving the thoughts”
. Classical dance technique as a tool for perceiving and learning contemporary movement
. Work on awareness and body deconstruction
. Peripheral vision
. Alignment and stretching
. Perception and use of the center of the body as the driving force of movement
. Perception of the body's gravity and knowing how to use it to feed and explore movement (e.g. slides, bounces, balancing and weight transfers)
. Ability to memorize exercises and choreographic compositions (music|memory)
. Music as an environment or movement stimulus
. Ability to improvise and create movements with or without a net (theme) individually or in a group
. The senses

Classes are taught by Ana Bacalhau in the Dance Room, at the following times:

Ana Bacalhau, graduated in Dance from E.D.C.N. (National Conservatory Dance School) and a degree in Clinical Psychology from I.S.P.A. (Instituto Superior Psicologia Aplicada). Master's in Clinical Psychology (ISPA) - “In defense of mind-body connections: reflections around movement classes - dance with preschool children”. The importance of Movement work and how it can have a positive impact on the overall development of children. The practice of Dance and the study of Psychology converge in the regular and specific work that he has been developing with children and young people in the areas of movement, dance and expressions. In a partnership between the Ministry of Education and the Aga Khan Foundation, he taught the Artistic Education component to a group of gypsy girls. The work with young people with down syndrome at APPACDM and in partnership with professor Ana Kohler resulted in the show “Once upon a time...” (Teatro Maria Matos).

Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology (ISPA) - ‘In defense of mind-body connections: reflections on movement - dance classes with pre-school children’. The importance of movement work and how it can have a favorable impact on children's overall development. The practice of dance and the study of psychology converge in the regular and specific work she has been developing with children and young people in the fields of movement, dance and expressions.
